What the report shows
The nearest open primary and secondary school to the property, by name and straight-line distance.
Where it comes from
The Department for Education’s register of schools, Get Information About Schools, published under the Open Government Licence.
Example
In the sample report, the nearest primary is Rothley Church of England Primary School at about 800 m and the nearest secondary is The Cedars Academy at about 3 km.

Nearest isn’t the same as catchment

Admission rules are set by each council or academy trust. Distance is often a tie-breaker, but siblings, faith and feeder schools can come first, and catchment areas change. Before you buy for a particular school:

  • Read the school’s admissions policy
  • Check last year’s furthest distance offered
  • Read the latest Ofsted report
  • Ask the council’s admissions team

Distances are straight-line. Walking routes will be longer.

No. Each school’s admissions policy decides, and distance is usually one criterion among several.

Why is the distance different from my maps app?

The report measures in a straight line from the plot. Road and footpath routes are longer.
